British Science Week 2023
We began celebrating British Science Week with a 'Zoom a scientist' assembly. Four scientists from the John Innes Centre answered our questions about science- from 'do aliens exist?' to 'what inspired you to be a scientist?' In every class, children have taken part in an investigation, linked to the theme, Connections. Year 4 have grown salt crystals and Year 1 tested paper bridges. Year 5 welcomed some visitors from the John Innes Centre to run their Science, Art, Writing (SAW) day, about antibiotic discovery. The practical session included growing useful bacteria from soil and purifying dyes by chromatography. The children also met the scientist’s leafcutter ants!
