At Drake Primary School and Little Pirates, we know and understand the importance of a positive start to the children's education that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 provides. In these vital years, children need to play, explore, investigate, question, and experience in order to learn. The environment, including the adults and other children, are crucial for providing children with first hand experiences on which they will develop their understanding and make connections between different aspects of their lives. A strong awareness of themselves and others will help children to access all areas of their curriculum and as such, personal social and emotional development is at the heart of all we do with the children. We aim for all of our children to be inquisitive and curious so that they develop the love of learning that will support them for the rest of their lives.
The Early Years Foundation Stage new curriculum framework was introduced in September 2021. Here are the links to these frameworks. Each will also give guidance on how children's learning and development can be supported in school and at home.
