In PE this term we have started looking at counter balances we can perform with our talk partners. We have learnt how to use our core to keep our balance and have trust in our partners to keep us safe.
We had Ben from Gressenhall farm visit Year 4 to talk to us about seeds. We began the workshop by disecting a bean, finding out about the embryo and how plants grow. We then collected branches and leaves from outside and collected the different seeds from them. With these seeds we identified which tree they came from using our identification sheet. Finally, we planted these seeds into pots with soil ready for them to grow.
This term in music Turing class are learning to play the violoin and the recorder. So far we have learnt the different notes of the violin GDAE, and had a go at playing a basic song.
We have started our art sequence exploring the artist Laura Carlin, who was am illustrator for both adult and children books. After a look into her work and lots of discussions, we created some visual notes.
On Thursday we took a trip to Sutton Hoo to kick off our topic on Anglo-Saxons. We saw the royal burial grounds, explored the exhibition hall to see replicas of findings in the Sutton Hoo grounds and took part in a sand tray archeology activity.
So far in science this term, we have looked at vertebrates and invertebrates. This included a minibeast hunt. We went outside and used pooters to collect invertebrates. We took them back to the classroom to look at and record some information before safetly returning them to their homes.
Our first day in year 4 took us on an adventure to High Lodge! We started the day in the KS2 play area, playing on the ziplines, slides and climbing equiptment. We then took part in a scavenger hunt where we had to find different things in the forest. Before lunch we went round the music trail and after lunch took part in some team games, we played a fun game of tag, dodge ball and skipping. We ended the day by den building in the forest.
