Science Museum

Year 5 pupils had an inspiring and hands‑on day of learning at the Science Museum in London. The visit was designed to deepen their understanding of key areas of the science curriculum, particularly forces, materials, light, space and scientific enquiry. Much of the day was spent in the Wonderlab, where pupils explored a wide range of interactive exhibits. They investigated reflections and colour, experimented with forces and motion, observed changes in materials, and explored structures and space through practical, high‑engagement activities.

A highlight of the day was the live science show, where pupils watched demonstrations explaining how rockets work, what early space travel looked like, and what would happen to the human body in space without a spacesuit. This linked directly to their learning about Earth and Space, giving them a memorable insight into the challenges and wonders of space exploration.
