WB: 15th June

Hello everybody.
I’m very excited because this week is the Virtual Big Sing. I’m looking forward to seeing all the celebrities and joining in with them from my living room. We can’t make music together as usual at the moment, but we can all be sharing in music at the same time which is going to feel really good.  If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure you ask an adult in your family to sign up before Friday. You don’t need to all the songs or dances to be able to enjoy watching, it is going to be like nationwide karaoke from your living room and you can join in as little or much as you like.

This week I have added the last 2 songs to Charanga for our Big Sing;  Roar by Katy Perry and Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I had a go at learning Roar this week for my Ukulele project:

I have been busy handing out some ukuleles this week to people who would like to join our virtual ukulele club. If you would like to join our ukulele club, it‘s not too late.  Your parents and teachers have the information you need to be able log in and join in.

I was particularly excited this week to see the latest celebrity announcement for our Virtual Big Sing which is The Beatbox Collective. They are a group of beatboxers who make all the sounds of their music using only their mouths, throats and noses and I am a big fan!

Bellatrix was the first female beatboxer in the UK and the first woman to enter the UK beatbox championships. She has toured all over the globe, singing, beatboxing and playing the double bass. You can watch her here talking about beatboxing on the BBC breakfast programme:

In this piece she is using a looping machine to record her parts as she goes and layer them up. I have seen her perform this live and it is incredible to watch:

I hope you enjoy the Big Sing on Friday. I’ll see you here next week.
