Little Pirates Childcare has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is like my second family. Everyone’s interest is for the welfare and needs of the children in our care and everyone is treated equally. Little Pirates offers excellent training and career prospects.
I started at Little Pirates in February 2016 as a member of bank staff, before gaining a full time position in the Tiddler room in April of the same year. I then became room leader in January 2018. No two days in my job are the same, and every session is an opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge.
Offering a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment is an essential part of working at Little Pirates, and having the chance to see children take their first steps is a magical part of my job.
The training days offered to staff are a fantastic way to learn new skills, and stay up to date with knowledge directly relevant to my job, and in supporting the children in my care with their individual development. We operate as a small team to maintain a positive environment for all children and staff.
I started working at Little Pirates as an MSA which I enjoyed very much, as I was able to spend some time with children in the setting helping them with their lunches and getting involved in their care.
When I was given the opportunity to start a Level 3 Apprenticeship I was very excited to be given the chance to be more involved with the children in the setting and to learn lots of different skills. I have lots of support with my assignments from other staff and get the help that I need to gain more knowledge.
I like seeing the children develop in the setting and it is lovely to hear the children say some of their first words, or take their first steps. We work as a team and all support each other within the setting which is very helpful to me as this allows me to learn lots of different skills on a daily basis. I am looking forward to completing my apprenticeship and really love coming to work as every day is very different with many opportunities to learn and to see the children flourish.
