We use social and emotional learning tools not just within our specialist provision, but across the school within our curriculum, routines and environment.

The Zones of Regulation is an evidence based curriculum to support pupils with their emotional regulation and wellbeing. It includes a sequences of lessons, related resources and tools which can be used to support pupils to identify their emotions and to use strategies to self-regulate. This academic year, we now have access to the new digital online curriculum, which is full of new resources and schemes of work. We are excited to delve deeper into this resources to enable us to continue to deliver high quality emotional regulation sessions to our pupils.
As part of our Zones of Regulation approach, we have created a routine of regular zones 'check-in' times throughout the day. These 'check-in' stations are in each classroom across our school.
When arriving at school we take our names and put them in the zone that corresponds with how we are feeling. We talk about why we might be feeling like that and what strategies we can use to support us to self-regulate.
We have been identifying the emotions both in ourselves and in others through videos, stories and our class texts. We have also started to expand our emotion vocabulary to include more complex emotions for each of the zones, with our KS2 pupils interacting with our zones display to add new vocabulary based on the feelings they experience.
We have a 'Regulation station' within our SRB environment, in addition to those around the rest of the school building. These are places pupils can use to support them to regulate their emotions, and return to their learning.
