Reception 2021

New Reception Intake September 2021

Welcome to all our new families, on Friday 16th April 2021 you should have received communication of your child's school ready for the autumn term. It is a very exciting time and we are really looking forward to seeing you all very soon. Our New Intake booklet 2021 will be published later this week, it will tell you all you need to know about how we begin the transition to Drake Primary School. We understand that the excitement may be tinged with worry as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic. However, we are confident that with some adaptations our visits to child care settings and your transition visits here at school, can be planned safely to ensure the children are prepared for life at school.

Getting to know you

We are very much looking forward to getting to know all of the new children and families joining us. We are currently in communication with pre-school settings, nurseries and childminders to make arrangements to visit any settings that are attended by children joining us to support a smooth transition into school. During these sessions, we will send a small pack of documents that will be sent home for you to complete and return to school. This will help us to gather information and to ensure that our school systems are up to date in time for when your child starts with us. In addition, we will be able to arrange for a Tapestry account which is our online learning and observation platform, this will help use to send you updates and information and to start the partnership between school and families.

On 30th June, we aim to hold an information session to which you will be invited to attend. This will give you the opportunity to meet school staff, find out a bit more about Reception at Drake, look around the school, sample school meals and spend some time in your child's classroom with the class teacher.

It is our aim that subject to any changes in Government guidance, all children will have the opportunity to look around school, have a home visit and attend for a half day session at school before the summer holidays. We are also hoping to plan additional transition activities and events and will share details of this as soon as we are able to.
