Our aim is for every child to leave our primary school able to play musical instruments, and having had the opportunity to sing in choirs and play in an orchestra - a gift that will stay with them for a lifetime.
One of the ways we will be achieving this, is with the help of our musician in residence. Every Thursday, our musician moves from class to class teaching our KS2 children to play a range of musical instruments. Last year they worked with us on a school wide Samba project which culminated in a Samba-Extravaganza in the summer - our school community all working and practising together, sharing in the fun and joy of Samba music. This year, on top music of teaching in all our KS2 classes, our Musician In Residence also manages to fit in a composition group for pupils, a lunchtime Ukulele Club, a choir and is offering an after school Samba club.
