Our aim is for every child to leave our primary school able to play musical instruments, and having had the opportunity to sing in choirs and play in an orchestra - a gift that will stay with them for a lifetime. We have a strong team of musicians from the Norfolk Music Hub working with our children across the school to achieve this aim.
Mrs Levy is in school 2 days a week as our Strings and piano teacher. In time, she’ll also be recommencing our lunchtime string ensemble for some of our string pupils.
Mr Draycott is our new woodwind teacher. This term he is delivering a clarinet club for year 6 and teaching our year 2 pupils to play the recorder.
Mr Taylor has joined us this year as a Musician in Residence. This term he is teaching all of year 3 to play the trumpet as well as providing woodwind lessons. Mr Taylor will also be leading our School Orchestra once that restarts and offering an afterschool digital music club to year 6.
Mrs Carruthers is our other new Musician in Residence who will be enhancing our Music Curriculum across the school. She’ll be working mainly with KS2, but visiting all year groups throughout the year delivering projects and workshops with all our pupils. She will also be leading our KS2 choir and offering an afterschool ukulele club for year 5.
