About the School

Drake Primary School is named after Sir Francis Drake.   It opened in 1978 and was originally built to accommodate 200 children from the ages of 5-8.   In 2000 it became an Infant School and Nursery and from September 2016 a Primary School. Drake Primary School will grow gradually increasing by one school year each September until 2019 when it will have children up to age 11.

The School has recently undergone a major building project to accommodate this growth including 10 new classrooms, a second school hall, group rooms and a multiuse games area. Pupils and staff moved into the new build area in January 2017.  The existing classrooms will be refurbished to provide better teaching areas for Reception and Year1, a heart library space, a larger staff room and office space. All classrooms will have access to the outside and our grounds will be developed to include a forest schools area, vegetable and fruit garden, Brecks area, large playing field, play equipment and multiuse games area.

The staff and I take every care to ensure that your child feels valued and happy at our school and will reach their potential. We hope you and your child will enjoy being part of Drake.
